anyone here a fan of this fed. ive nearly got the whole 94 - 95 commercial release collection now. i was a big fan of the headhunters, nakamaki, leatherface, cactus and funk.
tho to be honest when goto joined things started going downhill. however they're still going today, so i guess mr asano (is that his name?) must be doing something right.

I haven't seen much of them, but I really enjoyed most of what I saw. First of all, of course, the KOTDM tourney. Cactus vs. Gordy, Nakamaki vs. Ono, Cactus vs. Nakamaki and Cactus vs. Funk were all good deathmatches. Other good matches that come to my mind are Cactus vs. Funk from duel of the wild, Leatherfaces vs. Nakamaki & Ono nail hell death match, Nakamaki vs. ? NRBW thumbtack match (my memory is a bit blurry on that one), Headhunter A vs. Headhunter B in a glass death match (very brutal for that time) and Cactus vs. Goto in a street fight. IWA did a lot for the evolution of garbage wrestling, for example they did the first thumbtacks match and the first glass death match. The KOTDM also helped a lot to make garbage wrestling popular outside of Japan.

the thumbtack match was cactus and leatherface vs. nakamaki and the crypt keeper (who i always thought was the worst of the hollywood nightmares) that match was cool cos leatherface turned face after cactus beat him up.
another fave of mine was a barbed wire ropes and barbed wire canvas match between goto and mr ganasuke (sp?) vs. cactus and leatherface. catus does the hangman through the barbed wire ropes and instantly regrets doing so cos the barbed wire is pressing right into his neck. pretty brutal stuff.

it gave a lot of great and brutal matches. It was a great promotion!

it was a shame what happened to them in 96 onwards.but thankfully bjw took over as the dominant "garbage" promotion.

Cactus/Funk feud was amazing.
Masanobu Kurisu vs Cactus Jack
Ono vs Nakamaki from KOTD 95.
The House + Bathouse Death Matches.
Tajiri vs Gran Apache from Graveyard in Korakuen.
Headhunter A vs Headhunter B
Great Takeru's matches from 1998 to 2001 were also very enjoyable.
President Asano preparing himself to do a fireball but swallows the gaz and faints, while we can hear Jason The Terrible saying: Oh shit!!!!!!!

yeah it does suck, they're more interested in being a proper sleeze promotion. they did have a few deth matches back in 98 but i think that was the end of it.

I still get that nostalgic feeling when I watch the 95 KOTDM.

I've watched alot of iwa shows and they seemed pretty cool. Some of the matches I remembered being cactus vs funk fued and of corse the shoot match of all time with the leather faces vs nakamaki and some other guy. The head hunteres were also a cool tag team as well.

IWA Japan was what got me into deathmatches. I was at an ECW show in like 96 and I bought the tape cause I figured it had Funk and Cactus and crazy gimmicks so what the hell. I watched it the next day and have been addicted to deathmatches since.
