For Paulo or anyone else that does this or has any knowledge of it, I'm having big problems converting the Story of the f Series. The tapes are master originals there for very old. They were purchased by the original owner as soon as they were released as he was a long time fan. Anyway, I recorded them on to my dvd standalones Hard drive and the it came out nowhere near the quality of the tape. Know I understand analog to Digital transfer is never going to be perfect but this is a shame. These tapes are the best thing ever and Even if I go from SP to HQ which is the highest quality I can go, the footage is still slightly off. It isn't a great deal off but its enough for me to notice.
Is there any good programs for running analog into computers? I have a device for it but it's shit and I'd like to have a better go at this.

well as you know, dvds can only hold 2 hours of perfect vq, after that it goes down and down, usually 2 hours 30 still looks good.
my advice would be to record half the tape onto dvd then record the other half on another dvd.

Dude, a dvd in my recorder will record 1 hr of perfect HQ footage to a disc, which is the the highest quality that mine will do. I used SP which is the next step and allows 2 hrs of footage. I recordered it to the HDD first and then I copied it to two discs. I'll assess the quality again later but it's annoying. I might try a few other ideas. I was wondering if it's the HDD recording that's done it. It might be better to go direct to dvd maybe.
