There have always been a number of things that have puzzled me about the Japanese Deathmatch scene, and there are probably things that you guys have questions about too. So that's why I made this thread, to see if our combined knowledge can answer these questions. Post as many questions and possible answers as you'd like.
What does Ito yell to the crowd all the time? And does Kasai's "SHIIIEEE" mean anything?
Why did Yamakawa's first name change from Seiji to Ryuji early in his career?
How the hell do explosive barbed wire ropes work?
What's the appeal of a lights out deathmatch?
Why do all Japanese deathmatch wrestlers (except for kobayashi) blade vertically as opposed to how most north american wrestlers blade horizontally?

I think the yelling is something to pump up the crowd Why he changed his name,I really don't know The ropes have black cords on them, and when they stretch they cause explosives The lights out match is appealing beacuse with the lights out,it makes it twice as crazy with the guys not knowing who the opponent is,where he is,e.t.c And for the blading..I think it's beacuse vertical cuts are easier to take care of instead of long horizontal cuts

How the hell do explosive barbed wire ropes work? There are hundreds of those little explosive capsules attached to the barbwire (the white thing on the left, you can also see the black ignition wire). If they detonate all at once, it looks like the barbwire itself is exploding. I don't know if they detonate on impact or if they have some guy with a remote detonator at ringside.

I don't know if they detonate on impact or if they have some guy with a remote detonator at ringside. yeah something i've always wondered myself... because there are often times when explosions are late or don't happen at all...

Iam not to sure about Kasai's Chiiiieee thing, I assume it started when he adopted the crazy monkey moniker, But wherever it came from I fucking love it.

Someone does detonate it from ringside, I forget where I read that, but yeah that's why sometimes it's off by a split second.

About Kasai's "SHIII"..."shi" in japanese means "death" (and coincidentally "4", which is why you will probably never find that number in a hospital ), so there might be a connection, but I'm not sure.

I think you have the wrong language. It may be true in Japanese, I don't know but I know for sure that the word four and the word death are almost the same in Chinese.
